The case study on the Foundation’s operation and impact published by the Case Centre

3 December 2015, The Case Centre, a world-leading organisation dedicated to advancing the case method worldwide, sharing knowledge, wisdom and experience, has published the case How the Vladimir Potanin Foundation Is Building a Legacy of Leadership.

The case study examines the creation and evolution of the Foundation during dynamic and turbulent times in Russia. Using the analytical lens of Deliberate Leadership, it details how the founder and senior staff worked to create a philanthropic resources that reflects the culture of Russia while also pushing leadership development and systemic change in order to address some of Russia’s most complex problems. Developed for the Said Business School’s Impact Investing Programme at Oxford University, the case was written to target mid-career professionals taking part in an executive education course introducing them to the principles and strategies required to make successful social investment decisions. The case may also be used broadly in the fields of philanthropy, social investing, business and social responsibility, and leadership development. It is relevant for professionals at all career stages and for upper level undergraduate and graduate programs.

The lead author of the case is a visiting professor at Oxford University, senior director and co-founder of Partners for Change Gayle Peterson.

The first presentations of the case took place at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (George Washington University), Skolkovo Moscow School of Management.
